I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
— 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NLT)

About Come & Know Me

Come & Know Me is the first piece of music that we wrote together, beginning in 2014. We crafted this project to create space for reflection on God’s plan of redemption, through Scripture, lyric, and melody.

From 2019 to 2021, we lived in Texas and studied at Dallas Theological Seminary to become better-equipped in songwriting. During this time, as we learned more about the Bible and who God is, we re-wrote much of Come & Know Me. Before returning to New Zealand, we created an audio and visual recording of the project with a number of creatives in Dallas. We released this recording in September 2022 on YouTube and online streaming platforms.

Each song sequentially steps through the Gospel message:

  1. The Gust - we all have sinned and desperately need a Saviour

  2. Heaven to Dust - The Son of God took on flesh, becoming the man Jesus of Nazareth

  3. Hands of Sinners - Jesus Christ was crucified, paying the penalty of death we deserved

  4. Darkness - Jesus breathed his last

  5. Victory - Jesus rose again in victory over death

  6. Come & Know Me - God offers us the free gift of everlasting life through faith in Jesus

  7. Thank You - We thank God for offering us salvation and look forward to Jesus’ return

  8. Response - What will be our response to God’s offer of salvation?

When we present Come & Know Me live, each person is given a booklet to accompany our music. This contains a collection of Scriptures alongside the lyrics to each song, providing the listeners with a Biblical base. Before singing each song, these Scriptures are read out loud, providing the listener with time to reflect on what God has spoken through his Word.

Come & Know Me works great when used in a church service setting. These songs inspire Christians to reflectively praise God for his work of salvation, while offering an invitation to those who haven’t yet placed their faith in Christ. Come & Know Me naturally leads into Communion or a Gospel-centred sermon. Here are some examples of how we’ve used this project within church services:

  • Singing the first four songs on Good Friday, which conclude with somber reflection on Jesus’ crucifixion

  • Singing the entire project on Easter Sunday, celebrating the transformative truth of Jesus’ life, death, burial and resurrection

  • Presenting Come & Know Me, followed by Communion, a Gospel message, and congregational songs for everyone to sing in response.

We can present Come & Know Me either with a full band or just the two of us. We are always open to talking further about which format would suit your gathering or event best. Both ways of presenting this project include the Scriptures read in between each song.

If you’d like to partner with us by having us present Come & Know Me with your local church or at an event you’re planning, we’d love to have a conversation. Click here to get in touch.
